BHA Group Holdings, Inc. and Fit For Life Partner in Program

Everyone knows that insurance premiums are high - SKY HIGH! From schools to Wall Street, people are looking for ways to cut healthcare costs. In a wave of innovative corporate strategies to build a healthier work force, BHA Group Holdings, Inc. has started a proactive wellness program. A program fit for Fit For Life.

"We're excited about offering a wellness program to our employees," said BHA Director of Human Resources, Steve Kelly. "If we can hold down costs by taking a proactive approach to a healthy work force, then the costs of prevention in health incentive programs will pay off in premium savings. Fit For Life Fitness & Therapy Center is a perfect partner to advance our program."

It didn't take long to forge ideas, as the two organizations are spearheading a summer program to honor Raytown C-2 District teachers. The Dog Days of Summer event is being offered only to teachers during summer break.

"We've always wanted to do something just for teachers who pretty much are tied to the classroom all year," said Ken Blom, President of Stratford Development Corporation who owns Fit For Life. "The special discounts offered by local businesses during the summer months from June 1 to August 31 is our way of saying thank you. Most of all, we thank BHA who donated a $200 health package at the Elms Resort & Spa in Excelsior Springs."

It's funny how an idea doesn't stay an idea for very long.

"We were a little stunned when Stratford Development contacted us and pitched the health and fitness event," said Eric Busick, manager of the resort. "Being of that mindset for more than 100 years, we liked the partnership idea of promoting health and fitness to a broader base of people. We're bringing to the picture our recreational grounds, spa and overnight stay."

Other businesses participating in the Dog Days of Summer program are:

- Designers & Company Beauty Salon

- Raytown Gregory Animal Health Clinic

- HMH Autosport, Inc.

- Physician's Slender Concepts

- Docs Sorbet & Ice Cream Company

Given a Dog Tag ID to show at participating businesses, teachers will get a variety of discounts including massage and workouts at Fit For Life. Best of all, teachers will quality for Elms coupons and the spa package drawing in July.
